Apple Watch 2
Summary
Apple's next wearable is still shrouded in mystery, but could gain improvements like a faster processor, longer battery life, and/or a new display that's easier to read in sunlight.
Features
Faster processor
Better battery
Improved outdoor visibility
GPS?
More health sensors?
Waterproofing?
Very few rumors have surfaced about the device, one of them being a questionable claim about a FaceTime video camera. Generalized improvements might include a faster processor, better battery life, and/or true waterproofing, in contrast with the limited water resistance of the first Watch. One rumor has hinted at better outdoor visibility.
To keep up with rival smartwatches and fitness trackers, there are some other additions Apple could make. One is GPS, which might allow both run tracking without an iPhone, and faster response from location-sensitive apps like Maps. Apple could also add health sensors it dropped from development of the first Watch, such as a glucose reader.
Frequently accurate KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently suggested that the second-generation Watch will be an interim "s" upgrade, with improved internal specfications but few changes to external design.
A release date is still in the air. While Apple could ship as soon as June, more likely may be a fall launch, in tandem with or shortly after new iPhones.
